Vaiśampāyana said: Waking up, those tigers among men, together with Pṛthā, were astonished on seeing the divine beauty of Hiḍimbā.
वैशम्पायन ने कहा: जागने पर, पृथा सहित वे मानव बाघ, हिडिम्बा की दिव्य सुंदरता को देखकर आश्चर्यचकित हो गए।
Then, astonished at the richness of her beauty, Kuntī looked at her and addressed her in soft, gentle and assuring words.
तब, उसकी सुंदरता की समृद्धि से आश्चर्यचकित होकर, कुंती ने उसकी ओर देखा और उसे नरम, सौम्य और आश्वस्त शब्दों में संबोधित किया।
"O beautiful one, equal to the offspring of the gods! Who are you? Where have you come from? What business has brought you here?
"हे सुंदरी, देवताओं की संतान के समान! तुम कौन हो? तुम कहाँ से आये हो? कौन सा व्यवसाय तुम्हें यहाँ लाया है?
Are you the goddess of this forest or are you an āpsara? Tell me everything and also tell me why you are standing here."
क्या आप इस जंगल की देवी हैं या अप्सरा हैं? मुझे सब कुछ बताओ और यह भी बताओ कि तुम यहाँ क्यों खड़े हो।”
Hiḍimbā replied: "The great forest that you see, blue like monsoon clouds, is the habitation of the rākṣasa Hiḍimbā and me.
हिडिम्बा ने उत्तर दिया: "जो विशाल जंगल आप देख रहे हैं, वह मानसून के बादलों की तरह नीला है, यह राक्षस हिडिम्बा और मेरा निवास स्थान है।
O noble lady! Know me to be the sister of the lord of the rākṣasa-s. O honoured lady! My brother sent me here to kill you and your sons.
हे कुलीन महिला! मुझे राक्षसराज की बहन जानो। हे सम्मानित महिला! मेरे भाई ने तुम्हें और तुम्हारे पुत्रों को मारने के लिये मुझे यहाँ भेजा है।
I came here on the instructions of that cruel one and saw your immensely powerful son, with a complexion like that of pure gold.
उस क्रूर के कहने पर मैं यहां आया हूं और शुद्ध सोने के समान रंग वाले आपके अत्यंत बलशाली पुत्र को देखा है।
O fortunate lady! Then, under the influence of Manmatha, who pervades the essence of everything, I fell under your son's spell.
हे सौभाग्यवती स्त्री! फिर, मन्मथ के प्रभाव में, जो हर चीज़ के सार में व्याप्त है, मैं आपके बेटे के जादू के अधीन हो गया।
Therefore, I chose your immensely powerful son to be my husband. Though I tried to control my passion, I could not.
अत: मैंने आपके अत्यंत बलशाली पुत्र को अपना पति चुना। हालाँकि मैंने अपने जुनून को नियंत्रित करने की कोशिश की, लेकिन मैं ऐसा नहीं कर सका।
Since I was delayed, the maneater himself came here to kill all these sons of yours.
चूँकि मुझे विलम्ब हो गया था इसलिये नरभक्षी स्वयं तुम्हारे इन सभी पुत्रों को मारने के लिये यहाँ आ गया।
But he has been flung on the ground and dragged away by your great-souled and wise son, my husband.
परन्तु आपके महान आत्मा और बुद्धिमान पुत्र, मेरे पति, उसे ज़मीन पर पटक कर खींच ले गये हैं।
Look at the man and the rākṣasa, both with great strength and valour, grasping each other with great force and fighting and roaring."
उस आदमी और राक्षस को देखो, दोनों महान शक्ति और वीरता के साथ, एक दूसरे को बड़ी ताकत से पकड़कर लड़ रहे हैं और दहाड़ रहे हैं।"
Vaiśampāyana said: On hearing these words, Yudhiṣṭhira, Arjuna, Nākula and the valorous Sahadeva quickly got up.
वैशम्पायन ने कहा: ये शब्द सुनकर युधिष्ठिर, अर्जुन, नकुल और वीर सहदेव तुरंत उठ खड़े हुए।
They saw those two fighting, grasping and dragging each other, desirous of victory like two immensely powerful lions.
उन्होंने उन दोनों को दो अत्यंत बलशाली सिंहों के समान विजय की इच्छा से एक-दूसरे को पकड़कर घसीटते हुए लड़ते देखा।
They grasped and dragged each other again and again. Dust rose from the earth like billowing smoke from a forest fire.
वे बार-बार एक-दूसरे को पकड़ते और खींचते रहे। जंगल की आग से निकलने वाले धुएँ की भाँति पृथ्वी से धूल उठ रही थी।
Covered with the dust of earth, they were enveloped like two mountains in whirling mists.
धरती की धूल से ढके हुए, वे घूमते हुए कोहरे में दो पहाड़ों की तरह लिपटे हुए थे।
On seeing Bhīmā oppressed at the hands of the rākṣasa, Pārtha slowly said, as if in jest,
भीम को राक्षस के हाथों प्रताड़ित देखकर पार्थ ने धीरे से कहा, मानो मजाक में हो।
"O Bhīmā! O one with mighty arms! Do not be afraid. We did not know that you were tired from fighting this terrible rākṣasa.
"हे भीम! हे शक्तिशाली भुजाओं वाले! डरो मत। हम नहीं जानते थे कि तुम इस भयानक राक्षस से लड़ते हुए थक गए हो।"
O Pārtha! I am here to help you. I shall kill the rākṣasa, while Nākula and Sahadeva will guard our mother."
हे पार्थ! मैं यहां आपकी मदद के लिए हूं। मैं राक्षस को मार डालूँगा, जबकि नकुल और सहदेव हमारी माँ की रक्षा करेंगे।"
Bhīmā replied: "Watch this fight as a neutral. You don't have to take part. When I have got him in my clutches, he will not live for long."
भीम ने उत्तर दिया: "तटस्थ होकर इस लड़ाई को देखो। तुम्हें भाग लेने की आवश्यकता नहीं है। जब मैंने उसे अपने चंगुल में फंसा लिया है, तो वह अधिक समय तक जीवित नहीं रहेगा।"
Arjuna said: "O Bhīmā! What is the need to keep this evil rākṣasa alive for so long? O conqueror of enemies! We have to leave this place as quickly as we can. We cannot stay here longer.
अर्जुन ने कहा: "हे भीम! इस दुष्ट राक्षस को इतने लंबे समय तक जीवित रखने की क्या आवश्यकता है? हे शत्रुओं के विजेता! हमें जितनी जल्दी हो सके इस स्थान को छोड़ना होगा। हम यहां अधिक समय तक नहीं रह सकते।"
Before long, the east will redden. The morning dawn is about to set in. At the raudra moment, the rākṣasa-s become stronger.
जल्द ही, पूर्व लाल हो जाएगा। सुबह होने वाली है। रौद्र क्षण में, राक्षस मजबूत हो जाते हैं।
O Bhīmā! Be quick. Kill the terrible rākṣasa before he begins to use his powers of delusion. Therefore, show the strength of your arms."
हे भीम! जल्दी करो. इससे पहले कि भयानक राक्षस अपनी भ्रम की शक्तियों का उपयोग करना शुरू कर दे, उसे मार डालो। इसलिए अपनी भुजाओं की ताकत दिखाओ।”
Vaiśampāyana said: Having been thus addressed by Arjuna, Bhīmā threw up the body of the terrible rākṣasa and whirled it around a hundred times.
वैशम्पायन ने कहा: अर्जुन द्वारा इस प्रकार संबोधित किये जाने पर भीम ने भयानक राक्षस के शरीर को ऊपर फेंक दिया और उसे सौ बार घुमाया।
Bhīmā said: "Your body has thrived in vain on impure flesh. Your intelligence is in vain and you have aged in vain. Therefore, you deserve a useless death. Today, I will end your useless existence."
भीम ने कहा: "तुम्हारा शरीर व्यर्थ ही अशुद्ध मांस पर पला है। तुम्हारी बुद्धि व्यर्थ है और तुम व्यर्थ ही वृद्ध हुए हो। इसलिए, तुम व्यर्थ मृत्यु के पात्र हो। आज, मैं तुम्हारे व्यर्थ अस्तित्व को समाप्त कर दूंगा।"
Arjuna said: "If you think that killing this rākṣasa in battle is too onerous a task, let me help you. O Vṛkodara! Kill him quickly.
अर्जुन ने कहा: "यदि आप सोचते हैं कि युद्ध में इस राक्षस को मारना बहुत कठिन काम है, तो मुझे आपकी सहायता करने दीजिए। हे वृकोदर! इसे शीघ्र मार डालो।"
Otherwise, let me kill him. You are tired and have almost finished the work. You deserve to rest now."
नहीं तो मुझे उसे मार डालने दो। आप थके हुए हैं और काम लगभग पूरा कर चुके हैं। आप अब आराम करने के पात्र हैं।"
Vaiśampāyana said: On hearing these words, Bhīmasena was enraged. Crushing him on the ground with all his strength, he killed him the way one kills an animal.
वैशम्पायन ने कहा: ये शब्द सुनकर भीमसेन क्रोधित हो गये। उसने उसे अपनी पूरी शक्ति से जमीन पर कुचलकर उसी प्रकार मार डाला जैसे कोई जानवर को मारता है।
As he was thus being killed by Bhīmā, he let out a mighty roar that filled the entire forest, like the sound of a kettledrum drenched in water.
जब वह इस प्रकार भीम द्वारा मारा जा रहा था, तो उसने एक शक्तिशाली दहाड़ निकाली जिससे पूरा जंगल भर गया, जैसे पानी में भीगी हुई केतली की आवाज।
Then the strong son of Pāṇḍu held the body in his hands and tore it into two, pleasing the Pāṇḍava-s with the strength of his arms.
तब पाण्डु के बलवान पुत्र ने उसके शरीर को अपने हाथों में पकड़ लिया और अपनी भुजाओं के बल से पाण्डवों को प्रसन्न करते हुए उसके दो टुकड़े कर दिये।
On seeing Hiḍimbā killed, they were delighted and swiftly congratulated Bhīmasena, a tiger among men and conqueror of enemies.
हिडिम्बा को मारा गया देखकर, वे प्रसन्न हुए और उन्होंने मनुष्यों में बाघ और शत्रुओं के विजेता भीमसेन को तुरंत बधाई दी।
Worshipping the great-souled Bhīmā of terrible strength, Arjuna again told Vṛkodara,
भयानक बल वाले महाबली भीम की पूजा करते हुए अर्जुन ने फिर वृकोदर से कहा,
"O lord! I think there is a city not far from this forest. O fortunate one! Let us go there quickly, before Suyodhana discovers us."
"हे भगवान! मुझे लगता है कि इस जंगल से ज्यादा दूर कोई शहर नहीं है। हे भाग्यशाली! इससे पहले कि सुयोधन हमें खोज ले, हम जल्दी से वहां चलें।"
The scorchers of enemies and tigers among men agreed, as did their mother, and left, with the rākṣasī Hiḍimbā following.
शत्रुओं को झुलसाने वाले और मनुष्यों में बाघ सहमत हुए, जैसा कि उनकी माँ ने किया, और राक्षसी हिडिम्बा के साथ चले गए।
